Centralized Master Data for Digital Sovereignty in Agriculture
FarmSPT is a regional German research project focused on establishing a standardized, centralized master data management (Stammdatenmanagement) system for agriculture. The aim is to strengthen interoperability and digital sovereignty by allowing farmers to maintain high-quality, standardized data about their farms (such as field maps, machine and device data, farm and field boundaries, etc.), synchronize this data across farm management information systems (FMIS), machines, and public applications (e.g. subsidy systems). The project also emphasizes data control by the farmers, data protection, and testability of market products in a barrier-free way. It runs from December 2024 to November 2027.

Key features
- Central, standardized and synchronized storage of master and agronomic data
- Connecting machines, FMIS, public systems, with farmer-controlled access and protection
- Having a “single point of truth” to reduce data silos and redundant data management
Funding
- Funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) of Germany
- Approximate funding amount is €2.3 million over the duration of the project (three years)
